Welcome to Schwartz Guitars ... The Art of Sound

I'm glad you found your way here. My name is Sheldon Schwartz. I hope you'll find all the information you need about me and my hand crafted acoustic guitars so you can make an informed choice on your next six (or seven) stringed acquisition.
I've been building guitars full time since 1992.  During that time, I have developed three models: the Advanced Auditorium, the Pinnacle Fingerstyle Guitar with 6 or 7 strings, and the futuristic Oracle Fingerstyle Guitar.

Favorite Woods

I get asked this question all the time.  There's a lot of guitars being built these days using 'alternative tonewoods'.
Many people believe that if they are ordering a custom guitar, it needs to be Brazilian Rosewood.  While I do have quite a few sets of Brazilian Rosewood left, when they are gone I don't plan on ordering any more.
You are welcome to contact me regarding prices.
Although Brazilian Rosewood is quite beautiful, as are some of the alternative tonewoods, my favorite back and side wood is East Indian Rosewood.  The quality is still very high.  The sets are always quarter sawn with straight grain.  Its stable and while it may not be as visually striking as some other woods, it makes absolutely top-notch sounding guitars.  Another back and side material I like that sounds very similar to Brazilian, is Cocobolo.

If there's any type of wood you'd  like your guitar to be built from, just let me know.
My favorite soundboard material is Sitka Spruce.  Its always loaded with beautiful overtones and makes a great sounding steel string guitar.  Every piece is a little different both visually and sonically, so its always easy to find a set that suits a particular customer.
I also use Englemann Spruce and Western Red Cedar on a regular basis.

I'm always available to discuss what would best suit your playing.

Recordings and Artists:

• Want to hear the Advanced Auditorium?
Dave Wodnicki's follow up CD to 'Guitarioso' - 'Sacred Hymns', features Dave playing his Advanced Auditorium to perfection!
Dave's AA cutaway has an Engelmann Spruce top and East Indian Rosewood back and sides with a Tusq nut and saddle.
It is a great example of what you can expect to hear when you get one of my Advanced Auditoriums.

• Rob Bourassa used a brand new Schwartz
Koa and Sitka Spruce Advanced Auditorium cutaway on Maria Muldaurs' CD 'Sweet Lovin' Ol' Soul' with many guest performances by some well known players.

• Brandon Creasman's latest CD has a couple of tracks where he put down the electric and played some Schwartz on 'Peace, Love, Cornbread'.

• Billy McLaughlin played his Schwartz on some of the tracks on 'A Simple Gift'.
